Your suitcase may have no paddle, but your holiday can still make room for a new hobby. Add a first pickleball session to Da Lat: a little movement, a few laughs and an experience beyond sightseeing.
Where did pickleball come from?
Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell and Barney McCallum developed the game on Bainbridge Island, Washington, in 1965 using a badminton court, table-tennis paddles and a perforated plastic ball. The official naming account points to a rowing “pickle boat”—no jar of pickles required. [1]
Vietnam has embraced its social, approachable format. VnExpress documented the growing trend in December 2025; the Vietnam Pickleball Federation launched in July 2026. A holiday game offers a small window into a lively local sporting scene. [2][3]
Three courts with substantial review counts: our method
On 8 October 2026 we compared publicly accessible Da Lat court listings and PickleBase’s Google-linked review snapshots. These are displayed directory figures, not a verified live ranking of every Google Maps court. We have not read every original Google review or personally tested these venues. Popularity is a starting point; availability, equipment and beginner support should decide your booking. [4][5][6]
| Court | Public review count | Displayed rating |
|---|---|---|
| S.ERA Central Park | 82 | 4.5 / 5 |
| Dalat Sport | 46 | 5.0 / 5 |
| The Court | 40 | 4.7 / 5 |
1. S.ERA Central Park: check the address and availability
The directory displays 82 reviews and a 4.5 rating. Use the 20 Hẻm Cầu Đúc address to avoid confusing similarly named S.ERA venues. Check your date and time on the booking platform, then ask whether paddles, balls and introductory coaching cost extra. [4][10]
Tell the venue three things together: you are beginners, you have no equipment, and you would like a rules introduction. Confirm which photographed facilities are available for your session.
20 Hẻm Cầu Đúc, Đà Lạt, Lâm Đồng, Vietnam
+84 889 566 7882. Dalat Sport: build your first rally together
The listing displays 46 reviews and a 5.0 rating. A local review guide mentions space and friendly service; this is its summary, not our quotation of individual Google reviews. [5][7]
Travelling as a pair? Ask about a beginner practice booking. Visiting alone? Ask whether there is open play and how visitors join. Shared games, equipment rentals and coaching should be confirmed rather than assumed.

3. The Court: ask for the introduction you need
The listing displays 40 reviews and a 4.7 rating. A local guide highlights the atmosphere and staff service. Ask in advance whether a brief rules introduction or English assistance is available. [6][7]
Bring supportive trainers, easy-moving clothes and water. Confirm opening hours, outdoor rain arrangements, lighting and changing facilities before booking. A photogenic court still calls for practical shoes.

Four rules to learn before chasing the ball
Serve diagonally beyond the kitchen; a serve touching its line is a fault. The serve and return must each bounce before volleys begin. [8]
No volleys in the kitchen, but you may enter to play a bounced ball. Traditional side-out scoring awards points to the serving team, usually to 11, winning by two. Ask your host to call the score for your first game. [8]
Read the court at a glance
The playing lines enclose 6.10 × 13.41 metres. Each kitchen extends 2.13 metres from the net. The arrow illustrates a diagonal serve. Surrounding safety space is additional to these playing dimensions. [9]
A relaxed first session: 60–90 minutes
Here is a suggested holiday session: ten minutes for equipment and rules, fifteen for short rallies, twenty for serves and the two-bounce sequence, then short games with breaks. This is a planning idea, not a guaranteed lesson or performance outcome.
Try this message: “We are beginners visiting Da Lat. Can we book a court, rent paddles and balls, and get a short introduction? Please confirm the total price, available time and rain policy.” Separate court, rental and coaching charges, and confirm your group size. Photographs are actual published venue images; check current facilities before visiting.
